Artist comment: "This is the final piece in my series of 'Mt. Rainier' paintings. From Olympia, Washington, she looms majestically day and night. But high upon the foothill slopes, I painted this oil on masonite to show her stately grace in early spring when she still holds an impressive coating of snow. Here in the valley, the melted snow has created a deep pond as life 'springs' up all around. I enjoyed painting the varied greens with the blue/white mountain beyond. Although Mt. Rainier is the major subject, the group of evergreens stands strong and creates a vertical counterpoint to the horizontals of meadow and mountain.”
